AI and our work

We use artificial intelligence (AI) to support some parts of our work. We always keep humans at the centre of our decision-making.

The Commissioner recognises that AI presents new opportunities for efficient ways of working.

The Commissioner and her staff are committed to using AI in a way that is responsible, ethical and transparent. Dr Vincent has taken the Champions of Change Coalition’s Inclusive AI Pledge. (opens in a new window)The pledge is for leaders committed to using AI to help build a fairer future for everyone.

The Commissioner uses AI tools to assist with some of her work. She uses them to organise material and to prepare drafts of correspondence, speeches and reports. AI supports the Commissioner's work but does not replace her judgement.

Every compliance assessment, finding and decision made under the Gender Equality Act 2020 is the Commissioner's own. These decisions are based on her review of the evidence or that of her delegates under the Act.

Commission staff adhere to relevant Department of Families, Fairness and Housing policies and guidance on AI use. Staff are guided by to the Victorian Government’s Guidance for the safe and responsible use of generative artificial intelligence in the Victorian public sector(opens in a new window).
